Use Social Home

Social Home is the first screen in Social. It shows what needs action today, the posts going out, your results and your recent posts. You can also start a post and reply to comments from here. It takes about 5 minutes to learn.

Before you start

  • You can see Social in the left rail, with Home in its panel. If not, ask your admin to give your role Social access. See the Settings overview.
  • At least one network is connected. See Connect social accounts.

Steps

Open Social Home

  1. Open Social in the left rail.
  2. Select Home.

If no network is connected, Home shows Connect your first social account. Click Connect Platforms to start. See Connect social accounts.

Show one network only

  1. Click the platform button at the top. It reads All platforms until you pick one.
  2. Click a network that has a tick to filter Home to it.
  3. To see everything again, click All platforms.
  4. A network that is not connected reads … — connect. Click it to open the connect screen.
  5. Click Manage connections to open Connect → Social Connections.
  6. Click Refresh to load the latest numbers.

Start a post from Home

  1. Click the box that says What's on your mind?. The Create Post window opens.
  2. Or click one of the small icons under the box. They are for a photo, a video, an emoji, a tag, a place and a note. Each one opens the same Create Post window.
  3. Finish the post. See Create and publish a social post.

Act on what needs attention

  1. Read NEEDS ATTENTION. Each row shows a count, a label and an action. A coloured stripe on the left shows how urgent it is.
  2. Click a row to act on it:
    • Comments · need replies — click Reply →. The Comments window opens.
    • Google reviews · needs response — click Reply →. The reviews page opens. See Reply to Google reviews.
    • Failed posts · needs retry — click Retry →. Publish opens. See Schedule posts and manage the queue.
    • Platform connections · needs attention — click Fix →. Connect → Social Connections opens.
  3. A row appears only when there is something to do.

Reply to a comment

  1. In the Comments window, find the comment.
  2. Click Reply beside it. A box opens that says Write a reply….
  3. Type your answer.
  4. Click the send icon. A spinner shows while it sends.
  5. To close the box without sending, click Cancel.
  6. Click Close when you are done.

If there is nothing to answer, the window says No comments waiting on a reply.

Check today's posts

  1. Read TODAY. It lists posts going out today.
  2. If nothing is planned, it says Nothing scheduled.
  3. Click Calendar to open the full calendar in Publish.

Read your results

  1. Under Performance, pick This Week, Last 30 Days or Last 90 Days.
  2. Read Reach, Engagement, Followers and Posts.
  3. With Instagram picked, Followers shows the latest follower count, with the change against the period before, and a Views figure is added.
  4. For charts and a post-by-post table, open Insights. See Read social insights.

Review recent activity and posts

  1. Scroll to RECENT ACTIVITY. Click View more to see more rows, or View less to fold them.
  2. If there is nothing yet, it says No activity yet.
  3. Under RECENT POSTS, click View all to open Publish.
  4. Click a post to see it. Click Open in Publish to manage it, or Close to go back.
  5. If you have no posts, it says No posts yet.

Troubleshooting

Issue Cause Fix
Home shows Connect your first social account No network is connected. Click Connect Platforms and connect one.
NEEDS ATTENTION is empty Nothing needs action. No action needed.
The numbers look old The page was not refreshed. Click Refresh.
A network shows — connect in the platform list That network is not connected. Click it, then finish connecting.
