Create and publish a social post

Write a post once in the composer and send it to every connected network you pick. You can add photos or a video, use the AI Assistant, preview each channel, and then publish right away or save a draft. To publish later instead, see Schedule posts and manage the queue.

Before you start

  • You can see Social in the left rail, with Publish in its panel. If not, ask your admin to give your role Social access. See the Settings overview.
  • At least one network is connected. See Connect social accounts.

Steps

Open the composer

  1. Open Social in the left rail, then select Publish.
  2. Click New Post. The Create Post window opens.

You can also click New at the top of the Social panel, then click Post.

If you closed the composer earlier without saving, Ohanvi asks Resume Unfinished Post?. Click Resume Post to continue it, or Discard to start fresh.

Pick the networks

  1. In the channel strip, click each network you want to post to. A post can go to several networks at once.
  2. Hover over a grey chip to see why it is off. … — connect it in Integrations → Social Connections means the network is not connected yet.

The character limit shown while you write is the tightest limit of the networks you picked:

Write the post

  1. Type your text in the box that says Start writing or get inspired with Templates.
  2. Use the toolbar to add an Emoji or a Hashtag, or to make selected text Bold, Italic or Underline.
  3. To start from saved text, click Templates at the top of the composer, then pick a template in Start from a template. Replace each [bracketed] blank with your own words.
  4. To let AI draft the text, click AI Assistant. Describe the post under What should this post be about?, then click Generate post.

Note

Bold, italic and underlined characters count for more than 1 character on some networks. Underline adds 1 character per letter.

Add photos or video

  1. Click Add photos or videos, or drag files onto the Drag & drop or select a file area.
  2. If the Crop image window opens, pick a shape and click Crop. Shapes include Square (1:1), Instagram portrait (4:5), Twitter / X (16:9) and Stories / Reels (9:16). One crop is used for every selected channel.

Media rules:

  • Each image can be up to 25 MB. Each video can be up to 200 MB.
  • Videos are MP4, MOV, M4V, WEBM, AVI or MKV files.
  • Instagram does not accept text-only posts. Add a photo, or deselect Instagram.
  • Facebook does not accept video posts. Remove the video, or deselect Facebook.

Set Google Business options

These appear under Google Business options when Google Business is one of your channels.

  1. Pick the post type: Standard, Event, Offer or Alert.
  2. For an Event, fill in Event title, Starts and Ends.
  3. For an Offer, fill in Coupon code, Redeem URL and Terms & conditions.
  4. Optionally, add a Link (optional). It shows under the post body on Google.
  5. Optionally, pick a Call to action, such as BOOK, ORDER, SHOP, LEARN_MORE, SIGN_UP or CALL, then fill in CTA URL.

Preview and publish

  1. Click Preview to see how the post looks on each selected network.
  2. Choose what to do:
    • Click Publish Now to send the post to every selected network. The message Publishing to … — track it under Sent. appears.
    • Click Save Draft to keep it for later. The message Post saved as draft — publish it when ready appears.
    • Click Schedule to pick a date and time. See Schedule posts and manage the queue.

To edit a draft later, open Social → Publish, click the Drafts tab, and click the Edit icon on the post.

Troubleshooting

Issue Cause Fix
The main button says Connect a Channel to Post and is greyed out No network is picked. Click a network in the channel strip.
Post text is required The text box is empty. Type the post text.
Post text is over the … character … limit The text is longer than the tightest network you picked allows. Shorten the text, or deselect the network with the lower limit.
Instagram needs a photo or video — add one, or deselect it. Instagram has no text-only posts. Add a photo, or deselect Instagram.
Facebook does not accept video posts — remove the video, or deselect it. Ohanvi cannot post video to a Facebook Page. Remove the video, or deselect Facebook.
Too large to attach: … (over 25 MB) The file is over the size limit. Compress the file and add it again.
