Find, filter and view tasks

Find the work that matters to you right now, from any screen, and look at the whole project in the view that suits the question. At the end, you can check what is due today, narrow the board to one person, type or priority, and read the project's progress at a glance.

Before you start

Steps

See your own tasks in the Tasks panel

The Tasks panel works on any screen, so you can check your work without leaving what you are doing.

  1. Click Tasks in the right-hand rail. The Tasks panel opens.
  2. Pick a tab at the top of the list:

    Tab Shows
Today Tasks due today or assigned to you today. Tasks due today come first.
Assigned to me Every task where you are the assignee.
Created by me Every task you reported.
  3. Read the tags on each row: Due today (amber) or Overdue (red).

  4. Click a row to open the task, or change its status from the dropdown under the summary.

To close the panel, click Tasks in the right-hand rail again, or press Esc.

Filter the Tasks panel by status

  1. In the Tasks panel, click the filter icon at the right end of the tabs (tooltip Filter by status).
  2. In Filter by status, tick the statuses you want to see.
  3. Click Done. The filter icon is highlighted while a filter is on.

To show all statuses again, open the filter and click Clear.

Search the board

  1. In the Tasks panel, click Board. The board opens on the same project.
  2. Type in Search board. The board shows only tasks whose key or summary contains your text.
  3. Click the cross (tooltip Clear search) to show all tasks again.

Type a task key, such as OHANVI-12, to jump straight to that task.

Filter the board by type, priority or person

  • Type: click Type and tick Epic, Story, Task, Bug or Sub-task.
  • Priority: click Priority and tick one or more of Highest, High, Medium, Low and Lowest.
  • Person: click a member's avatar at the right end of the toolbar to show only their tasks. Click Unassigned for tasks with no owner. Click more avatars to add people, or click More people for the full list.

Filters combine. For example, Bug plus Highest plus one person shows that person's most urgent bugs. Click a selected option again to remove it.

When a filter shows Filtered by epic, click it to remove the epic filter.

Group the board into swimlanes

  1. Click Group (tooltip Group by (swimlanes)).
  2. Pick Assignee or Epic. The board splits into one row per person or per epic. Tasks without one go in Unassigned or No epic.
  3. To go back to a single board, pick No swimlanes.

Switch the board view

Pick a view from the switcher at the top of the board:

View Use it to
