Read task notifications

The notification bell collects alerts in one panel. Its Tasks tab shows changes to your tasks in three lists: Created by me, New created and Watcher. A red dot on the bell means something is unread.

Before you start

  • You can see the Tasks icon in the right-hand rail. Without task access, the Tasks tab is hidden.
  • You created, or watch, at least 1 task. See Comment, mention and attach files.

Steps

Open the notifications panel

  1. Find the bell in the right-hand rail.
  2. Look for a small red dot on it. The dot means unread task alerts.
  3. Click the bell. The Notifications panel opens.
  4. To close it, click the cross, tooltip Close, or click outside the panel.

Switch between General and Tasks

  1. Look at the two tabs under the title: General and Tasks.
  2. Click General for alerts from other modules.
  3. Click Tasks for task alerts. A number beside the tab shows how many are unread.

Read the task lists

  1. On the Tasks tab, find the three tabs: Created by me, New created and Watcher.
  2. Click Created by me for changes to tasks you reported.
  3. Click New created for tasks that were just created.
  4. Click Watcher for changes to tasks you watch. See Comment, mention and attach files.
  5. Read each row. Unread alerts show a dot.
  6. If a list is empty, it reads No notifications here.

Reload a list that failed

  1. If a list shows an error, find the Retry button.
  2. Click Retry. The list loads again.

Choose how alerts reach you

  1. To turn task alerts on or off, open Settings.
  2. Follow Choose how notifications reach you.

Troubleshooting

Issue Cause Fix
The Tasks tab is missing. Your role has no task access. Ask your admin. See Manage team members, roles and permissions.
No notifications here Nothing has changed in that list. Watch a task, or create one.
Failed to load notifications The list could not load. Click Retry.
The red dot stays on the bell. Some alerts are unread. Open each list and read the rows. [VERIFY: how alerts are marked as read]
